Why Choose Us?
- We specialize in Pediatric Dentistry
- We have state of the art digital X-rays
- We administer Nitrous Oxide for anxious patients
- We practice high quality ethical pediatric dentistry
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
We use nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, to help our patients relax during their visit. This is minimal sedation, as opposed to heavy sedation, allowing our dentists to be able to ask for important information during dental procedures. You will be awake for the entirety of your visit, but be spared from physical discomfort or stress that may come with dental work. Nitrous sedation is entirely safe and has been proven to be an effective, useful tool in dentistry for several decades.
At J. Bradley Ecker, DDS Pediatric Dentistry, we understand that a dentist appointment can be a frightening, anxiety-ridden experience for many children. Every member of our caring staff will bend over backward to make your child’s experience so comfortable and fun that they will actually be excited to come back!
No matter how well you take care of your teeth, you may end up needing one of our restorative treatments. Whether it’s because of a traumatic injury or dental disease, we are here to help restore the beauty and function of your teeth! In addition to dental implants, our restorative treatments include fillings, crowns, dentures, bridges, implants, root canal therapy and more. At our office you can feel confident that your smile will look and feel as good as ever!
Dr. Brad and his staff have been practicing pediatric dentistry in Batavia since 1992. His vision for his practice since that time has always been to provide a dental home designed especially for children and young adults. Dr. Brad offers a variety of state of the art services including:
Age One Dental Visit
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children should visit the dentist within 6 months of the first tooth erupting, no later than their first birthday. At Dr. Brad’s office we make the first visit, and every visit following, a fun, easy experience for you and your child. Your child’s first visit will include a complete examination of his/her mouth along with a dental cleaning and a fluoride treatment. Dr. Brad and his experienced team will take time to discuss any questions you may have. Our goal is to provide you with exceptional care as we guide your child through their growing years and on to healthy adult teeth.
Oral Hygiene Instruction
Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping the mouth and teeth clean to prevent dental problems, most commonly, dental cavities, gingivitis, bad breath, and gum disease. Our experienced dental hygiene team will teach you and your child how to properly brush and floss and give you the education to help make healthy nutritional choices.
Our certified dental hygienists aim to remove plaque, tarter and stains that have accumulated on the teeth over time. A fluoride treatment is recommended at this visit and possibly digital x-rays. You can expect Dr. Brad to perform a thorough exam to evaluate your child’s oral health and the growth and development of their face and smile.
When your child comes in for their dental cleaning, a topical varnish will be placed on their teeth following the exam. Fluoride helps strengthen any areas of weakened enamel and can mineralize places that are beginning the process of forming a cavity. Our varnish treatment reduces your child’s cavity risk by over 30% when done twice a year.
Digital x-rays allow the doctor to get a view of your child’s teeth and jaws that he can’t see with his eyes. They help diagnose cavities between your child’s teeth at an early stage often before the cavity breaks the tooth. In addition to detecting cavities, x-rays can detect un-erupted teeth allowing Dr. Brad to evaluate growth and development for potential orthodontic needs. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends x-rays every six months but the treatment may be less depending on your child’s risk for cavities. The amount of radiation by using digital x-rays is very minimal and our team uses caution in protecting and reducing exposure by using lead aprons and up to date equipment.

Extra care for anxious patients
While some children are calm and comfortable in our pediatric dental office, some may feel anxious during treatment. We offer the following treatment methods:
- Nitrous oxide also known as laughing gas. It works to ease your child’s fears so they can relax allowing Dr. Brad to complete treatment safely and comfortably.
- General Anesthesia is offered to patients that may have special needs, extreme anxiety or extensive decay. It is offered to patients as an out-patient surgery where your child will be unconscious for treatment and in the care of Dr. Brad, an Anesthesiologist and a team of technicians.
